BIO - Richard B. Couey, PhD
Dr. Richard B. Couey, PhD is currently a Professor of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation at Baylor University, the very school where he received his BA in 1963. He has earned his MA (1968) and PhD (1972) from Sam Houston State University and Texas A&M University respectively. In his 30 years of involvement in the health and fitness field, he has published 12 books and over 100 articles.

Dr. Couey’s field experience includes conducting workshops and programs over physical fitness, wellness, weight loss, nutrition, stress management, and enzymes and their relationship to health. He has worked in professional sports as a former Physical Fitness Consultant for the Texas Rangers Baseball Organization and as an Exercise Physiology Consultant for the U.S. Olympic Team and played professionally for the Chicago Cubs. Dr. Couey was also a member of the Governor’s Commission on Physical Fitness and the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. He also has organized and administrated a summer camp for children with Learning and/or Physical Disabilities in Waco, Texas.
