A new era has begun at YOR. It is my distinct privilege to serve as Chief Scientific Officer at YOR Health.

I come to you with 30 years of experience in medicine. Over the past 26 years I have specialized in surgery. My particular interest and focus over the past 10 years has been dedicated to weight loss surgery. I have performed the majority of Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass cases in the United States but also have been instrumental in teaching this advanced laparoscopic procedure to surgeons in both Europe and Asia.

More than 100 million people in the United States are categorized as obese. There are four different categories used to describe obesity. Overweight, obese, morbidly obese and super morbidly obese. Over the past 30 years all categories have climbed at an alarming rate particularly in the United States as well as globally.

As you know YOR Health is very important to me. The reason why I chose to come to YOR is the synergy I have with the YOR Team. We share the vision and goal to help people with their physical health and to promote wellness and proper nutrition through the use of YOR Health Products.

I will develop a scientific and medical advisory board to help guide YOR in current and future product development. The board will be composed of highly motivated and qualified individuals in the industry and academic leaders in their field. This infusion of new talent will compliment the outstanding existing group already at work at YOR. I will personally oversee all scientific health and wellness issues at YOR.

BIO - J. Stephen McColgan, M.D.,MBA
J. Stephen McColgan, M.D., MBA was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Boston College High School with the highest of honors. He then received his Bachelor of Arts degree and graduated from Boston University, Summa Cum Laude with distinction in Biology. Dr McColgan continued his education by attending medical school at Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his general surgery training at the University of California, Irvine, where he served as chief resident in general surgery. In addition, he received his Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. McColgan has been in private practice in the Long Beach, California area for the past 20 years, specializing in General, Vascular and Advanced Laparoscopic surgery. Dr. McColgan has extensive training in a wide variety of advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures. He was one of the first surgeons in the Los Angeles area to perform Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in 1990. He has gone on to apply his advanced laparoscopic surgical skills to perform the most state-of-the-art method of bariatric surgery, Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass and is considered a leader in this field.

Dr. McColgan has held the position of Chairman of the Department of Surgery for Bellflower Medical Center for the past 10 years. He has also served on the Board of Directors and has held many other positions in medical staff leadership over his 20 years in practice.

Dr. McColgan has not only focused on performing advanced laparoscopic surgery but he has worked with major corporations such as US Surgical Corporation and Ethicon Endo Surgical Corporation as a consultant to train and qualify surgeons for competency in Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass. In addition, he was the Chief Medical Officer of Onyx Corporation. Dr. McColgan also became involved with the International Divisions of US Surgical and Stryker Corporations. He was instrumental in the start up and development of a comprehensive program for an Advanced Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence at Piyavate Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. This center functioned as a teaching center and corporate showcase for the Asia Pacific Region.

Dr. McColgan enthusiastically looks towards the future with his extensive training in advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures and remains committed to performing and perfecting the most innovative surgical techniques.
